My mission is to make a difference within my community through authentic leadership while keeping intact my foundational values of honesty, respect, and service; along with my core principles of compassion, accountability, and hope.

My name is Allison Sabo and I’m running for Salt Lake County Council At-large A.  I’m a veteran, ready to serve.  The message of Vote Allison Sabo is clear: personal ambition has no place in our campaign and Democracy cannot flourish without sacrifice.  We will unfailingly ask ourselves, “What is best for Salt Lake County?”

We need to invest in the people.

For eight years, I have witnessed insurance companies denying mental health and substance abuse treatment services to people of all ages.  Affordable and accessible healthcare is a human right.  As a veteran, I receive all my healthcare at the VA.  I’m healthy enough to have energy to actively defend Democracy.

A tandem effort of mental health and criminal justice services decreases the chances of repeat offenses.  This can have a profound effect on the safety of the people.  In my professional life, I’ve witnessed what investing time, services, and collaboration can do for people with mental health diagnoses.  Rehabilitation, education, and services are never a waste of time.

By 2065, Salt Lake County will have 1.7 million people and the Utah News Dispatch says Utah won’t collect up to $500 million of Federal taxes for 2026 and 2027.  Costs have risen due to inflation and the One Big Beautiful Bill.  This shortfall was passed to the people.  We’re feeling it.  I adjust my household budget every pay period.

I’m reading a book called Beaten Down, Worked Up by Steven Greenhouse.  Although my education on the subject of the worker struggle is in kindergarten, I will unapologetically support labor, unions, and collective bargaining.  For far too long, the worker has not had a voice.

In winter 2025, the will of the people was made known through public comment and was ignored.  Vote Allison Sabo will be watching the introduction of universal child care New Mexico. Salt Lake County may be able to model it.

Salt Lake County is powerful and growing and the people deserve leadership that looks forward to the future with them in mind.  I see a Salt Lake County Council and a Salt Lake County that makes changes together with confidence and collaboration.

YOU CHOOSE THE INVESTMENT IN THE PEOPLE

THE COMMITMENTS OF VOTE ALLISON SABO

Honest Service
I’m a veteran and know how to place the needs of the people before my own.  I will represent ALL people.  To the Council, I will bring real-world, practical experience which will resonate with the people.

Accountability
Now it is time to step up and lead.  I am not afraid to look power in the eye and ask “Why?”. I got somewhat complacent during the Obama years and that lost time needs to be remedied.

Optimism
Democracy can work, and together, the people will make it work.  Election results since 2018 have shown a shift in the viewpoints of the people of Salt Lake County.  We want accurate representation.

THE GUIDING PRINCIPLES OF VOTE ALLISON SABO

  • The people should come first.  Democracy depends on our unification.
  • For our purpose there is one authority, the people, and they express themselves by voting.
  • Democracy begins with belief and survives through action.
  • The campaign should control its own affairs except in matters affecting the people.
  • The campaign has one primary purpose – to carry the message of Democracy to the people.
  • The campaign will not affiliate with any outside organization.
  • The campaign will be supported by party and smaller contributions from the people.  It will take caution when considering any large donations from groups, businesses, or PACs for they may carry an obligation for the candidate.
  • The campaign will be made up of volunteers and paid staffers.
  • Democracy needs rotating leadership.  Regular elections and term limits create representatives who are guided by the people.
  • Campaign members should never express any personal opinion when representing the campaign.
  • Democracy works because, in the words of the Gettysburg Address: Government of the people, by the people, for the people.
  • Democracy is the foundation of all our Guiding Principles.
